EXODUS To Open For IRON MAIDEN In Chile
January 3, 2011San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans EXODUS will open for the legendary British heavy metal act IRON MAIDEN on April 10, 2011 at Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile.
Comments EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt: "We had two shows left on the Thrashfest [European] tour [with KREATOR and DEATH ANGEL], everybody was tired and burned out, and then I got word that EXODUS will open for the one and only IRON MAIDEN in Chile! Best news ever! Just unbelievable!"
He adds, "There's no one bigger than IRON MAIDEN in South America. I've seen the DVD footage of their shows down in that part of the world, and to actually get to open for them ANYWHERE is amazing! But down there? Absolutely spectacular!
"We'll be playing Santiago with my heroes — a band whose songs we were covering at backyard parties — in front of 65,000 people! Suddenly we all got a big second wind! Stoked beyond belief is an understatement!"
With four months to go, 22,000 tickets to IRON MAIDEN's Santiago concert have already been sold. José Luis Corral, the event's producer, states: "We added EXODUS to expose the audience to something more extreme and also to have another classic name fundamental in the history of hard rock [on the bill] and very important for a generation of Chilean metalheads. I think it's the first time they’ve played together."
EXODUS's latest album, "Exhibit B: The Human Condition", was recorded in December 2009 in Northern California with producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ARCH ENEMY, KREATOR).
The CD sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.
EXODUS' previous CD, "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A", opened with 3,600 units back in October 2007.
"Exhibit B: The Human Condition" was released in North America on May 18, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.
EXODUS' "Downfall" video was helmed by SchneppZone director Jon Schnepp of "Metalocalypse" fame (the animated program about DETHKLOK, the world's most popular death metal band, on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim) and was shot on April 1 on the old set of the television sitcom "Night Court". In addition, it features animated sequences by Los Angeles-based traditional animator Jeremy Polgar.
